Colour Scanning Calibration – a Comparison of Different Methods

چکیده

In this master’s project a number of scanner colour calibration methods are evaluated for the purpose of establishing a calibration method for a desktop scanner. A scanner is used when scanning images of homogenous printed areas that subsequently are analysed for the measurement of colour mottle in prints. The master’s project has involved studies of several calibration techniques including artificial neural networks using Bayesian learning. The results show that a method based on artificial neural networks using Bayesian learning, and second a method, based on multiple regression of a 20 term polynomial curve fit, yield similar calibration accuracy. The latter calibration method is recommended because it is simpler to implement and requires less computational effort. A mean accuracy of ∆Eab < 4 was achieved in cases when the evaluated printed samples did not show a high amount of gloss variation, implying that the calibrated scanner-acquired images can be considered to fulfil the requirements needed for the colour mottle application purpose. However, when the samples presented a high amount of gloss variation the accuracy did fall, sometimes dramatically, ∆Eab > 10, suggesting that a scanner in this case is a less suitable input device. Review and Comparison of In-field Calibration Methods of Accelerometer Based on Gravity Vector

Considering the wide applications of accelerometers to determine position and attitude and due to reducing of accuracy of this sensors because of some errors, this paper discusses the calibration of accelerometers. Also because the traditional calibration methods are very time consuming, costly and need precision laboratory equipment, in-field calibration methods are recommended which are simpl...

Automatic colorimetric calibration of human wounds

BACKGROUND Recently, digital photography in medicine is considered an acceptable tool in many clinical domains, e.g. wound care. Although ever higher resolutions are available, reproducibility is still poor and visual comparison of images remains difficult. This is even more the case for measurements performed on such images (colour, area, etc.). This problem is often neglected and images are f...

Comparison of the Obtained Results from Two Calibration Methods in MRI Brachytherapy Normoxic Polymer Gel Dosimetry

Introduction: Despite the fact that the clinical implementation of polymer gel dosimetry has been facilitated after the introduction of normoxic gels, there are still complications in its clinical routine use that are under investigation. In the current work, the feasibility of using a normoxic polymer gel dosimeter named MAGICA has been investigated for use in our clinical brachytherapy applic...
